सिरकोट समेत आसपास के गांव परकोटी, घांघली, कंधार एवं कालीगढ़ के लिए पानी का एकमात्र जरिया था सीम गधेरा यानी प्राकृतिक जलस्रोत। लगभग 20 साल पहले यह पूरी तरह सूख गया था। गांव में सिंचाई तो दूर पीने भर के लिए पानी समस्या विकराल होने लगी। तब जगदीश ने जलस्रोत के रिचार्ज जोन से शुरुआत कर करीब 100 नाली भूमि में पौधारोपण शुरू कर दिया।

भिलकोट वन पंचायत सरपंच बसंत बल्‍लभ जोशी से छायादार और फलदार पौधों की मदद ली।अपने इस अभियान में उन्होंने चैड़ी पत्ती वाले बांज, बुरांश, देवदार, उतीस, शीशम और सुराही के सैकड़ों पौधे रोपे। ग्रामीणों की भी मदद ले साल-दर-साल पौधारोपण का दायरा बढ़ाया। जलस्रोत से निकलने वाली धारा के प्रवाह मार्ग में कई छोटे-छोटे रिचार्ज पिट भी बनाए।

धीरे-धीरे पौधे पेड़ बनते गए और सूख चुका जलस्रोत सिर्फ बरसात ही नहीं बल्कि गर्मियों में भी सदानीरा बन गया। इसके बाद परकोटी गांव के लिए तो सीम गधेरे से ग्रामीणों द्वारा एक पक्की पेयजल योजना भी बना ली गई। जिससे 400 से अधिक ग्रामीणों को शुद्ध पेयजल आपूर्ति हो रही है।
