भारतीय सेना में महिला अधिकारियों के स्थायी कमीशन की के फैसले पर निर्णायक मुहर लग गई है। केंद्र सरकार ने भारतीय सेना में महिला अधिकारियों को स्थायी कमीशन देने के लिए स्वीकृति पत्र जारी कर दिया है। बीते रोज भारतीय सेना के प्रवक्ता ने इस निर्णय की जानकारी दी।
बीती सात जुलाई को सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भारतीय सेना में महिला अफसरों के लिए स्थायी कमीशन लागू करने के लिए सरकार को एक माह का वक्त दिया था। इससे पहले इसी वर्ष 17 फरवरी को सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सेना में स्थायी कमीशन का चुनाव करने वाली सभी महिला अधिकारियों को तीन महीने के भीतर स्थायी कमीशन का आदेश दिया था।
सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस संबंध में दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट के वर्ष 2010 के आदेश का पालन न करने पर केंद्र सरकार को फटकार भी लगाई थी।
केंद्र द्वारा इस संबंध में स्वीकृति पत्र जारी किए जाने के बाद यह आदेश भारतीय सेना की सभी दस स्ट्रीम पर लागू होगा। इस आदेश के लागू होने के बाद अब महिला सैन्य अधिकारी रिटायरमेंट की उम्र तक सेना में काम कर सकती हैं।
इसके साथ ही यदि वे चाहें तो रिटायरमेंट अवधि से पहले भी नौकरी से इस्तीफा दे सकती हैं। स्थायी कमीशन के बाद महिला अधिकारी पेंशन की भी हकदार हो जाएंगी।
भारतीय सैन्य सेवा में महिला अधिकारियों को शॉर्ट सर्विस कमीशन (एसएससी) के माध्यम से नियुक्ति दी जाती है जिसके तहत वे अधिकतम 14 साल तक ही सेना में नौकरी कर सकती हैं।
इसके बाद रिटायरमेंट दे दिया जाता है। 20 साल तक नौकरी न कर पाने के कारण रिटायरमेंट के बाद उन्हें पेंशन भी नहीं दी जाती है। इसके खिलाफ कुछ महिला अफसरों ने अदालत का दरवाजा खटखटाया था जहां उन्हें जीत हासिल हुई।
