चंपावतव विधानसभा उपचुनाव में मतदान को लेकर मतदताओं में खासा उत्साह देखा गया। हालांकि दोपहर में दो घंटे की बारिश और हवा के कारण पिछला रिकार्ड नहीं टूट सका। बावजूद इसके कुल 64 प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ। यानी कुल 61,576 मतदाताओं ने मताधिकार का प्रयोग किया। वहीं कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी ने भाजपा सरकार पर उपचुनाव को प्रभावित करने का आरोप लगाया।
मुख्यमंत्री के चुनावी मैदान में होने से उपचुनाव को लेकर मतदाताओं में काफी उत्साह व उम्मीद दिखाई दी। मंगलवार की सुबह 151 पोलिंग बूथों पर सुबह सात बजे से चम्पावत विधानसभा उपचुनाव के लिए मतदान शुरु हुआ। कुछ जगहों में ईवीएम मशीनों की थोड़ी गड़बड़ी के अलावा उप चुनाव शांतिपूर्वक संपन्न हुआ। सीएम व भाजपा प्रत्याशी पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने टनकपुर-बनबसा के दस के अधिक मतदान केंद्रों का जायजा लिया और मतदाताओं को अधिक से अधिक मतदान के लिए प्रेरित किया।
सुबह नौ बजे दो घंटे में 16.09 फीसद मतदान हुआ। जो पिछले बार हुए चुनाव की तुलना में काफी अधिक रहा। जैसे-जैसे धूप खिलने लगी तो लोग मतदान के लिए अपने घरों से निकलने लगे। जिसके बाद अचानक मत प्रतिशत बढ़ने लगा। मतदाता अपने घरों से निकलने लगे। जिसके बाद अचानक मत प्रतिशत बढ़ने लगा। 11 बजे 33.85 फीसद मतदाताओं ने मतदान कर दिया था। एक बजे दोपहर तक मत 45.49 प्रतिशत हो गया। एक बजे बाद तेज अधंड़ और मूसलधार बारिश हुई। जिससे मतदाता अपने घरों में कैद हो गए।
इन दो घंटों में केवल छह फीसद ही मतदान हुआ। तीन बजे तक 51.83 फीसद प्रतिशत मतदान हुआ। आखिर के दो घंटों में बारिश रुकने के बाद मतदाता पोलिंग बूथ में पहुंचने लगे। चम्पावत विधानसभा में कुल 96213 मतदाता थे। जिनमें से कुल 61, 576 मतदाताओं ने मतदान किया।
मतदान को लेकर सुरक्षा व्यवस्था चाक चौबंद की गई थी। जिस कारण कहीं भी किसी प्रकार की गड़बड़ी की सूचना नहीं मिली। चुनाव की सारी प्रक्रिया शांतिपूर्वक संपन्न हो गई हैं। देर रात तक 60 फीसद पोलिंग पार्टियों ने ईवीएम नगरपालिका के रैनबसेरा के ऊपरी तल में जमा कर दी है।
मतगणना का कार्य तीन जून को वन पंचायत सभागार में होगी। तब तक ईवीएम मशीनों को अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा के साथ यहीं पर रखा जाएगा। जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी चम्पावत नरेंद्र भंडारी ने बताया कि शांतिपूर्वक चुनाव संपन्न हो गया है। अब ईवीएम जमा होनी शुरु हो गई है। किसी प्रकार की कोई गड़बड़ी नहीं हुई है। तीन जून को मतगणना का कार्य होगा।
