उत्तराखण्ड से सटे पावंटा साहिब के टिंबी मिल्ला संपर्क मार्ग पर कोटि उतरऊ कैंची के नजदीक शिलाई के बकरास मार्ग पर बारातियों से भरा एक पिकअप वाहन अनियंत्रित होकर दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया। हादसे में 9 लोगों की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई, जबकि एक व्यक्ति ने अस्पताल में दम तोड़ा।

घटना की जानकारी मिलते ही ग्रामीणों एवं बचाव दल घायलों को वाहन से निकालकर पौंटा साहिब अस्पताल पहुँचाया। बताया जा रहा है कि सोमवार को पौंटा साहिब के शिलाई के बकरास रोड पर एक पिकअप एचपी-17 सी 4137 सोमवार शाम को बारात लेकर जा रही थी।

इसी दौरान वह अचानक कोटि उतरऊ कैंची के पास अनियंत्रित होकर गहरी खाई में जा गिरी। हादसे में नौ लोगों की मौके पर ही मौत हो गई, जबकि एक ने पौंटा अस्पताल पहुंचने से पहले दम तोड़ दिया। मृतकों में आठ लोग एक ही गांव के थे।

हादसे में जान गंवाने वालों की उम्र18 से 25 साल के आसपास तक की बताई जा रही है। वाहन में कितने लोग सवार थे अभी पता चल नहीं पाई है। पुलिस का सर्च ऑपरेशन जारी है।
